Backup Operations

This guide provides information on creating and editing backup sets for local or cloud backups, excluding files, performing manual backups, and scheduling backups.

Express Backup

Edit backup set

Modify an existing backup set by adding or removing files and directories.


edit_backupset

Steps:

  1. Choose Edit backup set from the main menu.
  2. Follow the prompts to add or remove items.

Schedule backup

Schedule backups at specific times.

Steps:

  1. Choose Schedule backup from the main menu.
  2. Enter the desired time and frequency.
  3. Enable options like cutoff, email notifications, and immediate start if needed.

Options:

  • Status: Indicates if the schedule is enabled.
  • Scheduled time: The time set for the backup.
  • Frequency: How often the backup runs (e.g., daily, weekly).
  • Cut-off: Time limit for completion.
  • Email notifications: Enabled/disabled for status updates.
  • Email addresses: List of addresses for notifications.
  • Start backup immediately: Allows immediate backup override.

Enable CDP

Enable Continuous Data Protection (CDP) for continuous backup as changes occur.

Steps:

  1. Choose the Backup settings from the Settings option under the main menu.
  2. Specify the Status or Frequency for Continuous Data Protection (CDP).

Start backup

Start an immediate backup for the current backup set.

Steps:

  1. Choose Start backup from the main menu.

Stop backup

Stop an ongoing scheduled backup.

Steps:

  1. When a backup is in progress, choose Stop backup from the main menu.

View backup progress

View the status and progress of an ongoing backup, including files processed, remaining files, speed, and estimated time to completion.

Local Backup Options
Edit local backup set

Modify the local backup set by adding or removing files and directories.

Steps:

  1. Choose Edit local/express backup set from the main menu.
  2. Follow the prompts to add or remove items.

  • Start backup immediately: Indicates whether the backup can be triggered immediately, overruling the scheduled time.

Start local backup

Start an immediate local backup for the current local backup set.

Steps:

  1. Choose Start local/express backup from the main menu.
  2. Follow the prompts to proceed.

Stop local/Express backup

Stop an ongoing scheduled local backup.

Steps:

  1. When a local backup is in progress, choose Stop local/express backup from the main menu.

Express Backup
