What is IDrive BMR Express™?
IDrive BMR Express helps you transfer large amounts of data stored on the BMR device to your cloud account, using physical shipment of a temporary storage device. All you need to do is, fill out the shipment form to place an order for the Express device. We will send you the device with all the required accessories and the necessary information. You just need to backup the data to the device and ship it back to us. Our technical team will transfer the data to the cloud for you.
The benefits of BMR Express include:
- The Express device is shipped to your location, thereby, reducing bandwidth usage.
- This service helps you quickly transfer large amounts of data in just a week or less.
- Once the data is transferred to your cloud account, you can continue with incremental backups.
- Data backed up to the Express device will be encrypted using the same default or private key that was set on your BMR device.
Note: This service is available only within USA and is free once per year. All subsequent requests will be charged. |

How do I place an order for the BMR Express device?
You should fill out a shipment form to place an order for the BMR Express device. Our team will contact you and provide a quote, if required, after you place the order.
To place an order,
- Go to www.idrive.com and sign in with your BMR cloud account credentials.
- Click 'IDrive BMR Express' displayed on the left navigation bar.
- On the 'Express Backup' tab, select data size from the 'Size of data to be transferred' drop-down menu.
- Specify the exact size of data in the 'Special Request / Comments' field, if you have selected 'More than 20TB' from the drop-down menu.
- Provide your contact information and shipping details in the respective sections.
- Go through the shipment agreement and accept the same.
- Click 'Place An Order'.
Once you confirm the order, we will ship the device to you with all the required accessories. Follow the set of instructions to transfer data from the BMR device to the BMR Express device. |

I have received the BMR Express device. How can I transfer data from the BMR device to the Express device?
To transfer data from the BMR device to the Express device,
- Sign in to the IDrive BMR device web interface and click the 'Cloud Replication' tab
- On the page that appears, click the 'Switch to Cloud Seeding' button
- Connect the Express device to the BMR device.
- Click the 'Mount' button.
- If you want to transfer backups of your physical machines, go to the 'Physical Machines' tab. To transfer backups of your VMware server, go to the 'VMware' tab.
- In the 'Cloud Seeding Settings' section, select the clients to transfer from the respective dropdown.
- Enter the bandwidth throttle value to set the speed of the backup to the express device and optimize the load on the BMR device. Click 'Transfer Now'.
Note: Data backed up to the Express device will be encrypted using the same default or private key that was set on your BMR device. |

How soon can I expect data to be transferred to my cloud account once I ship the Express device back to IDrive?
Once we receive the Express device from you, typically, it takes 2 to 3 weeks, depending on the volume of the data. Our representative will update you on the same. |

Can I transfer data to the cloud via cloud replication, during data transfer via BMR Express?
No, you cannot transfer data to the cloud via cloud replication, while cloud seeding is in progress. When you start the cloud seeding process, cloud replication will be disabled and all the ongoing backups will be terminated. After the express transfer is complete, cloud replication will be re-enabled by the technician. All your data transfers, including scheduled transfers to the cloud, will start again from the point where the Express transfer ended. |

Is it possible to retrieve data transferred to the cloud via BMR Express?
Yes, you can retrieve data transferred to the cloud via BMR Express. However, you have to raise a request with the support team for Express restore. For detailed steps, refer the BMR Express restore FAQ. |

I have received the Express Drive for restore. What next?
The data shared via the Express Drive for restore can be utilized in two methods, depending on your restore requirements:
- You can perform files/folder-level restore, if you only need certain files from the backup.
- Restore the entire system using IDrive BMR’s bare-metal restore functionality.
Contact support once you receive the Express device for restore. Our technical team will assist you with your preferred choice of data recovery.

I am an existing user of IDrive BMR. Can I avail the BMR Express service?
Yes, BMR Express service is available for both existing and new IDrive BMR users. Existing users can use this service to transfer data, that is not yet transferred to the cloud account. After Express transfer is complete, cloud replication will continue transferring any new data to the cloud. |

I see that cloud replication is disabled when the BMR Express service is in progress. When will it be re-enabled?
Cloud replication will be re-enabled by our back-end technical team once Express transfer is complete, and all the backups will continue from where you left off. |

How do I cancel Express transfer after initiating it?
If you want to cancel the Express transfer after initiating it, contact the BMR support team to undo any changes made during the process. |

Is data transferred to the Express device secure during device transit?
Yes, data that is backed up to the Express device will be encrypted using the same default or private key that was set on your BMR device. |
